Through Safe Patient Handling and Mobility (SPHM) programs and advocacy, ANA is working to establish a safe environment for nurses, with the complete elimination of manual patient handling as our goal. The Safe Patient Handling and Mobility Standards 2nd edition communicates the continued need for standardized SPHM programs and resources, and re-ignite SPHM discussions and improvements. It highlights eight overarching standards including culture of safety, SPHM technology, and comprehensive evaluation system.
ANA guides the profession on issues of nursing practice, health policy, and social concerns that impact patient wellbeing. Through our position statements, ANA amplifies the voice of nurses, and educates both consumers and policymakers.
