Overview
The Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Review Course Workshop provides information relevant to current practice and review materials to prepare for the ANCC Medical-Surgical Nursing board certification exam. In addition, participants may earn continuing nursing education contact hours and gain valuable study tips and information to be utilized in preparing for certification exams. Learners will immerse themselves in the comprehensive content via independent study, engaging workshop presentations, case study reviews, and practice questions. Learners are encouraged to assess their knowledge gaps and design a focused study plan to meet their personal learning needs.

Nurses will apply, analyze, and evaluate:
- Current practice information, research, and application to clinical practice
- Relevant clinical updates with treatment options
- Improved patient safety and quality outcomes
- Preparation for board certification exam

PhD, CNS, ANP-BC, GNP-BC, RN-BC
Patti Parker has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years. Her clinical background and master's degree are in adult medical-surgical nursing. She has done post-master's-degree work as an adult and geriatric nurse practitioner and doctoral work in the field of gerontology with a research focus on diabetes education in the older adult. Parker has been with the nursing faculty in the University of Texas system since the summer of 1994, and is faculty at the University of Texas Arlington in the Graduate College of Nursing, Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program.
